About Saffron Smith
My interest in medical writing was initially piqued during a summer research placement at The University of York, where after months of handling Drosophila, our research was published in Brain Communications. I went on to graduate from the University of York with a first-class integrated master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, and began to research medical writing roles. Medical writing appealed to me as I had consistently enjoyed the writing aspect of my degree and was keen to continue to work with the latest scientific research.
I joined Bham Pharma in 2021 as a Medical Writing Intern and have since progressed to Medical Writer I, developing my medical writing knowledge, confidence, and skills along the way. Medical writing has provided me with an exciting opportunity to work with the latest scientific findings across a variety of therapeutic areas. Disseminating these scientific advancements to ultimately benefit patients and improve healthcare is the most fulfilling aspect of my role.
Outside of work I enjoy playing netball in the evenings, trying out new recipes, and knitting whilst watching my favourite films.
