About Helen Jolly
I graduated with 1st from the University of Nottingham with a BSc in Genetics and recently completed my MSc in Quantitative Genetics and Genome Analysis (Human Complex Trait Genetics) at the University of Edinburgh. My first experience with science communication was during work experience back in 2020 – managing the Twitter account for the VIKING II research project (a genetic cohort study of populations with Shetland and Orkney ancestry).
Most of my writing experience has been through the write-up of large projects, in particular my MSc research project, in which I investigated the genetic architecture of addiction and its correlation with a range of other disease traits in the Generation Scotland cohort. My knowledge of disease epidemiology and experience handling and analysing genome data has provided me with a solid understanding of biostatistics, which I hope to bring to Bham Pharma. I am looking forward to building my understanding of the industry across a breadth of therapeutic areas in my role as a Junior Medical writer.
Outside of work I enjoy gym, netball, travelling, seeing my friends and going out. I’m also into sustainable fashion so I source and sell clothes (when I have time!).
